NIPOST FEE: Minister of Communication halts plan, get Chieftaincy title, (The Strong Man) of Igboland

Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Issa Pantami

The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Issa Pantami has disclosed the NIPOST proposed license fees was not part of the regulations Approved.

According to the Minister while responding to an inquires directed to him on Twitter, after the NIPOST fees went Viral.

He said; “Pls Nipost Nigeria, our attention has been drawn to an increase of licence fee, which was not part of the regulation I earlier APPROVED for you. Your Chair and PMG were YESTERDAY contacted to put the implementation on hold and send a report to our ministry by Monday. Best wishes!”

In another reply, he add; “Nipost Nigeria, the power of regulation of NIPOST lies with the Minister. Any change of fee must be specific and be approved by him before implementation. I know the economic challenges of NIPOST. However, looking at the economic hardship of our citizens, we need to suspend any move.”

The prompt responses from the Minister as help quenched the tension surrounding the NIPOST license fees.

As such, the Minister has been giving a Chieftancy title as “The Strong Man” of Igboland in what seems to be humorous tweet.

See tweet below.

“Dear Hon. Minister @DrIsaPantami, on behalf of my Igbo brothers and sisters we say thank you for coming through for Nigerians on the unhealthy #nipost policy. We thereby give you a Chieftaincy title as ‘Dike 1’ ( Strong Man) of Igboland. Our Yoruba people what do you give him?”
