Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerard has ruled Nigeria defender Leon Balogun out of the Gers’ Scottish Premiership clash against Motherwell on Saturday.
The 31-year-old was forced off with a head injury in Rangers’ 3-2 Betfred Cup defeat at St Mirren on Wednesday night.
The Nigeria international was involved in a bruising clash with Jon Obika in the second half and had to be treated for several minutes on the pitch before he was substituted.
“Balogun is unavailable for tomorrow (today) as we are following medical protocol after a head injury,” Gerard told a media conference ahead of their clash with Motherwell.
“He’s a bit dizzy. So, we will analyse him over the next couple of days and take advice from the medical staff.”
Balogun has made eight league appearances and 14 across all competition since he joined the club on a free in August.
Rangers unbeaten in the SPL so far this season with 15 wins and two draws lead the log with 47 points from 17 games. Reigning champions, Celtic, are 14 points adrift.
