The Zamfara State Police Command has said that in collaboration with the state government and other critical stakeholders, it has successfully secured the unconditional release of 18 abducted students and staff of Zamfara State College of Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Bakura.
It could be recalled that on Monday, 16th of August, 2021, suspected bandits invaded the School and abducted the victims to an undisclosed hideouts.
According to the State Police Spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu since then, the police command under the leadership of Mr. Ayuba Elkana in collaboration with the Zamfara State Government and other Critical Stakeholders have been intensifying search and rescue strategies with a view to rescuing the abducted victims hale and hearty.

“The abducted victims who were brought to the Government House by the Commissioner of Police, were handed over to His Excellency, Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle. The Governor commended the Police and other security agencies for the efforts put in place to secure the unconditional release of the abducted students and staff.”
According to the statement, the Governor said that his administration has taken drastic measures to checkmate and curtail the activities of criminal elements in the State. He, therefore, directed all the security agencies to ensure full compliance with the new measures.
The Commissioner of police, while handing over the victims to the Governor appreciated the Governor for the support and encouragement rendered to the police and other collaborators that assisted in the successful rescue of the abducted victims.
The statement noted that all the victims are undergoing medical treatment and Police medical team before being reunited with their families.
